THE COMPOSITION LAB
Led by no comment.'s artistic director Cory Haas, THE COMPOSITION LAB is a weekly opportunity to create theatre, hone your skills and develop your practice as a theatre-maker. This 4 or 6 week laboratory is driven by a get up and do attitude. The goal behind this workshop is to encourage makers to play, dare, risk, surrender and create consistently.
Through the weekly sessions, you will gain practical knowledge in how to use composition to help you create work, be introduced to varying devising methodologies to help inspire your content and learn how to apply this work to rehearsals or performance. Every week we will be CREATING, SOMETHING. This is a process based laboratory - we'll engage with the idea that process can be product and surrender to the possibilities of limitations and 'exquisite pressure'.
At the end of the lab, you will get to scratch your work in front of an invited audience, giving the work a chance to live and be in dialogue with observers.
THE COMPOSITION LAB is for everyone - performers, designers, musicians, writers, directors, visual artists + more. Every session is different, the possibilities are endless, so you can keep coming back for more!
Who knows? You might even want to take the idea even further once the lab is over. Let's challenge ourselves to create!

WEEK 1: Introduction to Composition through Viewpoints and devising strategies
WEEK 2: Refining the idea of Composition and critique - task-based exercises and a short creation
WEEK 3: Deepening practical/critical skills - exploring different starting points - longer creations
WEEK 4: Looking at emerging themes, defining the focus of final work, gathering resources and limitations
WEEK 5: creation + critique + edit + repeat
WEEK 6: Scratch performance in front of invited audience (filmed so you can have a record of your work!)
** the 4 week schedule is similar as each session is slightly longer
